This article will explain to you the diagram of ankle bones. In the diagram of the ankle bones, there are tibia, fibula and talus. Ankle is basically composed by those three main bones. Tibia is the inner bone which is usually named the shin bone. The size of this bone is larger than any other bone composing the ankle.

Fibula is the outer bone. This bone is thinner than tibia. The location is next to the tibia. It permits human to run. Without this bone, we are unable to run or even walk. Thirdly, talus is the joint between tibia and fibula. The location is below tibia. This bone allows us to run, walk, jump, and any other movement.

Besides those three main bones, ankle also has bony bumps that can be obviously seen. These bony bumps are also known as protrusions. They are the medical malleolus, the posterior malleolus and the lateral malleolus. The first bony bump, the medical malleolus is located inside your ankle.  It is also a part of tibia. The location is in the lower part of tibia. Next, the posterior malleolus is located on the back of the ankle. It is also part of the tibia.

The position of the posterior malleolus on the tibia is also on the lower part of it. The lateral malleolus can be seen and felt on the outside of the ankle. Its location is in the end of the lower part of fibula. This bony bump is next to the talus. Ankle bones diagram is actually easy to learn, it is because its bone composition is not complex.
