Removable Partial Denture - Denture is a kind of tool to replace the missing teeth and gums. There two types of denture. They are partial denture and complete denture. Partial denture is a denture used for certain teeth that are missing, but complete denture is used to replace the function of teeth that are all missing.
Removable complete denture and removable partial denture
There are two types of removable complete denture. They can be immediate or conventional. They are built when the teeth have been removed. The gums of which the teeth have been removed can get infection, thus it is better to apply the removable complete denture after the gums infection is healed.
The period needs as the healing time for the gums is about twelve weeks since the teeth have been removed. This case happens for the replacement of conventional denture.
How about the immediate denture replacement? For immediate denture, we can apply it soon after the teeth have been removed. When using the immediate denture, the wearer can already have teeth without waiting for the gums healed.
However, when the wearer uses this type of denture they later will have their gums shrunk. It takes time to make the immediate denture replacement fit to the gums. After some time, the immediate denture has to be replaced again by the conventional denture. This is when the condition of the gums has been healed and ready to be applied the conventional one.
The other type of denture is removable partial denture. This kind of denture is used to replace teeth which are missing, but a few of them still remain attaching to the gums. The part of denture which is permanents is put as the replacement of one or can be more of the missing teeth. This part is called bridge.
This bridge will also help other teeth that still remain if changing its position in the gums. This one type of denture can have very natural appearance just like the natural teeth that have been missing. Removable partial denture can also be followed by the application of dental implants.
