Sinus Infection - What is sinus? Well, sinusitis is a condition where the tissue that lines around sinuses get inflamed and swollen. This condition is caused by bacteria, viruses or even fungi or any other germs blocking the sinuses. Thus, the sinuses function cannot be normal. It is because in normal condition, sinuses are filled with the air we breathe in. But, in sinusitis condition, these sinuses cannot work normally. So, what do you think it will work?
Sinus infection: how severe?
Some conditions that are indicated to cause blocking sinuses are cold, nose allergy, and there is a growth in the line of our nose which is called nasal polyps. Those conditions can the causes of sinus infection.
Types of sinusitis can be divided into three categories. First, acute sinusitis is sinus infection that can last four weeks. In this acute sinus condition, the symptoms that appear are pain on face, and we get our nose feel runny and stuffy. The second category of sinus infection is subacute sinusitis. In this condition, our sinuses only get inflamed. This inflammation can last until four to eight weeks long.
Thirdly, chronic sinusitis is a condition of sinus infection that can last for more than eight weeks. This condition also shows the sinus symptoms like the other sinus categories. But, it is more severe than those two. The last category is recurrent sinusitis. In this condition, there happens several sinus infections for some periods of a year. In this condition, sinus infection has become really severe.

In acute sinusitis condition, there are some common symptoms that occur. They are the pain felt on face, nasal stuffiness, nasal discharge, losing smell, coughing, fever, bad breath, fatigue and also dental pain. Those are common symptoms that happens indicating sinusitis. When somebody has already found even two of those symptoms felt in his or her body, it can be concluded that she or he suffers sinus infection or often called sinusitis. The period of how long the symptoms last is according to the types of sinus infection suffered. The sooner a person finds out the symptoms of sinus infection, the better the prevention of the worst will be.
